The secrets of a gold locket
Through the Victorian age, a gold locket was given at a funeral. These days however, lockets are given for many different reasons and occasions including Valentines day or mothers day. Because they are such personal gifts, they are always going to be an ideal gift for birthdays, weddings and in many cases christenings!.Typically the locket would have a photograph of the individual who gave it, or where the locket holds several photos, possibly the both the giver and the receiver of the gift. A gold locket is a stunning piece of jewellery on its own, however it is generally worn using a necklace, of maybe a bracelet. Gold is certainly the most common metal for a locket to be made out of, however there is a wide range of precious metals, including silver through to platinum and pretty much everything in between. Each locket is suited to a different event, you could get a silver locker for your daughters birthday or perhaps a christening, but a gold locket would probably be more suitable for a wedding or a valentines day gift. While there is no restraint to the design of a locket, they are normally a heart shape or oval pendant. Typically a locket opens up to expose a picture, or two, however many of them are bigger allowing enough room to keep a lock of hair, or other sentimental item.
